The island of Sicily is a viticultural wonderland, home to many native varieties, and also home to an active volcano! Whilst Feudo Arancio are not in the same section of the island as the famous Mt Etna (they sit about 2 hours drive to the south, in the province of Ragusa), it's hard to mention Sicily and not discuss the influence of the famous volcano! The climate is warm, but tempered by the sea breezes, and the growing and making of wine hasn't changed much over the centuries - the aim is to let the grapes speak and make wines that couldn't come from anywhere else!

There's a real focus on native varieties at Feudo Arancio, but that;'s not to say they ignore the more famous, international varieties! This mix of tradition and modernity really encapsulates what the winery is all about - showcasing the best of the island, but with one eye on the future - and the other eye on the volcano!

A beguiling pale red in the glass, this Nero d'Avola packs a savoury punch! Medium bodied, filled with mixed red fruits and flowers. There's some warmth on back palate, in the form of sun drenched cherries and plums, but balanced by some tarry weight. A very nice glass of wine!
