Ever wonder what is melody? It's pretty simple really. It's the arrangement of high and low musical sounds.
Suggestion for Teachers:
High and low in music can be a hard concept for younger students (kindergarten and first grade) to understand. It's not physically high and low, and it's often confused with soft and loud. Furthermore, we confuse the matter by saying things like "turn that up, or turn that down" when that's not really what we mean. Help your younger students to learn high and low by having them imitate you making little dog barks and big dog barks (high and low). I tell a story about a little dog and a big dog when I do this and it's always both fun and beneficial to their vocal development. Have fun with it and feel free to use this video!
