In this interview, Arshan caught up with Sugarhill rapper, DD Osama, during KTO’s most recent trip to New York. DD Osama quickly rose to notoriety after dropping “Dead Opps” featuring his brother, Notti Osama. Notti was tragically m*rdered the same month the video for “Dead Opps” released & went viral, racking up almost 5 million views to date. The song “E4N” featuring DD Osama and collaborators like Edot Baby, Sugarhill Ddot, & his brother JStar Balla, was released shortly after & dedicated to Notti. DD later dropped “40s N 9s”, which has almost 4 million streams on Spotify alone, while his recent video for “Back to Back” ft Dudeylo has over 2.3 million views in less than 2 weeks.
During their conversation, DD talks about coming from a YZY Shades event before his interview, not listening to Ye when he was younger, and growing up in Sugarhill, Harlem. They discuss his previews videos and interviews with youtubers like Buba100x and Noticuz, before DD talks about being inspired by his brother, JStar Balla, to start rapping. He lists his top 5 rap GOATs, including Lil Durk, Polo G, Rod Wave, Lil Baby, & Lil Zay Osama, before mentioning how his brother, Notti, passed away right as DD was blowing up. He talks about how Notti’s passing affected him before discussing how his song “40s N 9s” went viral.
