The M2 Bradley is equipped with a 25 mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun which has a firing rate of 200 rounds per minute. A wide range of ammunition has been developed for this weapon. The depleted uranium M 919 APFSDS was designed for penetrating light armored vehicles.
With a similar structure to the known APFSDS rounds, it has a penetrator of length 110mm and aluminum sabot. The M919 leaves the barrel with a muzzle velocity of 1,420 meter per second. The core is composed of a depleted uranium with an aluminum windscreen at the front and stabilized with a steel fin.
HEI rounds, like M792, are preferred against main battle tanks for mobility kills, it turns out that a direct hit to a turret ring may cause a hydraulic failure making the turret spinning as reported recently in Ukraine.
