How to Request & Style the Gentleman's Haircut
What's up guys! Today I'm showing you a very versatile men's haircut. The gentleman's cut is suitable for most hair types and and bring a lot of symmetry to most face shapes. Here in this video I'm requesting a .5 tapered up into a 2 for the sides and back. On the top I requested that my barber layer my hair. Excess weight especially with fine hair can prevent you from achieving the volume you're looking for. Layering is a great way to keep the hair long (in some parts) and shorter in other sections to lighten up the overall weight when styling you hair.
Now I also wanted to show you guys how this men's haircut looked after a week because by then the gentleman's cut has grown into a more natural look. The look you have right out of the chair isn't going to be the look your hair has for the coming weeks.
Now I always shower in the morning to wet and reset my hair before styling. Then after I've towel dried the hair I use 2 sprays of the Aveda Thickening Tonic.

Once I've worked the tonic into my hair with my hands, I start using the blow dryer to add shape to the style and help the product absorb. Then it's time to add the product! In the first half of the video you see my hair styled with Lockhart's Professional Matte Clay.

In the second part of the video I'm using Byrd which is a water soluble matte pomade. I actually found this product in Target which was really surprising to me. I used hair products from places like target and Walmart all through high school and I was always incredibly disappointed. So, this was a very pleasant surprise!

Finally make sure to apply the product from the back to front and then from the front to the back. Then take one more pass with the brush and hair dryer to complete the styling. Then adjust anything you need with you hands and you're ready for the day!
