Magnus Carlsen announced after the World Championship match with Ian Nepomniachtchi that he would not like to play another World Championship match if his opponent is not someone from the next generation. He specifically also mentioned the name of Alireza Firouzja. This was the first game between Carlsen and Firouzja after the World Champion made this announcement. No wonder everyone was very excited for this 7th round bout at the World Rapid Championships 2021. The pressure was not just on Firouzja but also on Magnus as he thought for nearly 2 minutes for his first 2 moves of the game!
