海外に渡航する息子の見送りに故郷から出てきた父娘が東京見物をするという設定を通して、公共マナーへの理解を促すことを目的に製作された作品。震災から復興した東京の各所がスケッチされ、上野・帝国図書館のくだりでは、公衆作法講演会に参加するという作品の舞台裏まで登場する。車上に載せたキャメラによる移動撮影や多重露光など実験的な試みも注目される。
「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1922年から1936年までに製作された49作品を新たに公開いたします。この時期の前半は、文部省製作による秀作や長篇の観光映画などが注目されますが、満州事変勃発以降の作品になると、軍事色の急速な高まりを伺うことができます。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

While the earlier years see some masterworks produced by the Ministry of Education and a feature-length tourism film,the selection after the Manchurian Incident represents the rapid growth of militarism.
