Some 45nm west of Tioman is a little island called Pulau Varella aka Varella Rock. On 19th Decmeber 1944 the Japanese armed freighter Gyoshin Maru (aka Berhala Wreck or Varella Wreck) ran aground on the reef and sank.
We visit this site a couple of times a season due to it's remoteness and are the only dive centre we know of that dives her.
