In this video I will show you how to repair a half grey JPEG file. BTW, the grey block at the bottom of the image can be any color, it depends on how the image was corrupted.

When part of a JPEG image is missing this can be due to several things:

- Half is actually missing (common after file recovery), this can not be repaired.
- Corruption in JPEG bitstream, interrupting the decoding process. This can often be repaired using a tool like JPEG-Repair Toolkit.

Using JPEG-Repair you can remove corruption (invalid JPEG markers) from bitstream. The file should now render till the end. Likely there is additional corruption and distortions as these invalid markers are often just the tip of the iceberg. Using JPEG-Repair you can remove this corruption and and re-align image data. Some post processing is likely required too.

JPEG-Repair version used in this video is 2.4.45. Inpaint tool is included in download archive. I also used Paint.NET.
