Original NBC Broadcast of game 2 of the 1971 World Series with Curt Gowdy Chuck Thompson and Toni Kubek from Memorial Stadium. Recorded and Digitalized of som pre recorded VHS tapes ive had in the archives since the late 80s. Not the greatest quality of these rare games from the '71 series, but it's probably the most complete version of this game out there. Recently Restored and remastered to the best of my ability with what I had to work with in these old VHS tapes.
Starting pitchers in Game 2 are Bob Johnson for Pittsburgh and Jim Palmer for the home team Baltimore. This game prove to be the only blowout in the series as the Orioles knock in 11 runs on 14 hits, taking Pirate starter Johnson out early, pitching only 3.1 innings and is replaced by Bruce Kison in the 4th inning. Meanwhile Orioles starter Palmer pitches has a great outing, pitching a solid 8 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 Pirates hits with 10 strikeouts, despite walking 8 batters. Hitting stars in game 2 are Brooks Robinson who goes 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, while 2B Davey Johnson goes 2 for 5 with 2 RBIs. Richie Hebner hits his 1st Homerun in the series in the 8th inning (Hebner with 3 RBIs) Dick Hall comes in the 9th inning to earn his first save of the series, and shuts the door on the Pirates as the Orioles now have a 2-0 lead in the series.
