Earth Orbit

This short animation shows how the Earth remains tilted as it revolves around the Sun. This tilt is the cause of our seasons - when the Sun is shining directly down on the Northern Hemisphere (when Earth is to the left here) it's Summer everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere and Winter for everyone in the Southern Hemisphere. Half a year later, (when the Earth is on the right side of the screen) the seasons are reversed. The Sun shines directly down on the Sourthern Hemisphere making them have Summer, while it's Winter in the North.
