Neroli - The Oil of Intimacy

Neroli comes from one of the most generous plants in the essential oil world, the Bitter Orange tree. Not only are we blessed with Orange oil from the rind of its fruit and Petitgrain from its leaves and twigs, but its delicate white flowers present the divine Neroli essential oil. The oil gets its name from the 16th century Italian princess Nerola, who loved the aroma so much she would anoint her clothing and writing materials with the oil. One of the places that Neroli has a long-revered history is Egypt. It is said that Cleopatra would anoint her sails with the enticing scent of Neroli and Jasmine oils as she sailed up the Nile to seduce Mark Antony. The poor man didn’t stand a chance! Even today some of the best Neroli comes from Egypt.
