Just started youtube and shooting film, so I' need a lot more experience.
In this episode, I visited Hie Shrine.
As for Hie Shrine, the exact date of its establishment is unknown.
It is said that the Edo clan enshrined Sanno Shrine as the ancestral deity of Musashino development and the guardian deity of Edo, and when Ohta Doukan built Edo Castle in 1478, he enshrined Kawagoe Sanno Shrine (present-day Kawagoe Hie Shrine) as his guardian deity. The Hie Shrine was enshrined from the Kawagoe Hie Shrine.
In 1590, when Tokugawa Ieyasu was transferred to Edo and made Edo Castle his residence, the shrine was moved to Momijiyama inside the castle, where it has been revered as "the shrine of the castle guardian" and "the god of birth of Tokugawa Yoshinobu" as well as "the general shrine of Edo" and "the god of birth of Edo" by the citizens of Edo.
The shrine was moved from Momijiyama inside the castle to a new location outside the castle when Hidetada II made major changes to Edo Castle, and a new shrine building was constructed.
As the name implies, Oyamaakui no Kami, the main deity of the shrine, is the deity who drives stakes into the mountains, in other words, the owner of the mountains and the landowner deity of the mountains. According to the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters), he resides at Hie-no-yama(Mt. Hie) in Omi Province and Matsuo in Katsuno, and is described as having whistling arrow as his divine body. Incidentally, the Hie-no-yama(Mt. Hie) mentioned here also refers to the later famous Hieizan (Mt. Hiei), so we can see the connection with Hie Shrine, can't we?
The shrine also enshrines Kuninotokotachi-no-kami, Izanami-no-kami, and Tarashinakatsuhiko-no-mikoto.
In the precincts of Hie Shrine, there are not guardian dogs, but monkeys. The reason why monkeys, also known as guardians of the mountains, are placed in this shrine is difficult to explain if you don't understand Japanese, so I'll skip it here.
There was a big fire in 1657, called the Great Fire of Meireki, which burned down most of Edo. This fire destroyed more of the shrine buildings, so in 1659, the shogun Ietsuna relocated the shrine to its current location, using the estate of Matsudaira Tadafusa in Akasaka as the site for the shrine.
Also, the shrine building was destroyed by fire during the Tokyo Air Raid in 1945, and was rebuilt in 1958.

今回は、赤坂にある日枝神社を散策した動画になります。
慶応4年（明治元年）6月11日以来、日枝神社の称号となりましたが、古くから山王社などと称され、一般的には「山王さん」と呼ばれ親しまれていたそうです。
この日枝神社に関しては創建の正確な年代が分かっておりません。武蔵野開拓の祖神・江戸の郷の守護神として江戸氏が山王宮を祀り、1478年、太田道灌公（おおた どうかん）が江戸城城築の際に鎮護の神として川越山王社、現在の川越日枝神社を勧請したことが始まりとされています。日枝神社はこの川越日枝神社から分祀したものと言う事ですね。
1590年、徳川家康公が江戸に移封され、江戸城を居城とするに至って城内の紅葉山に遷座し「城内鎮守の社」「徳川歴朝の産神」として、又江戸市民からは「江戸郷の総氏神」「江戸の産神」として崇敬されました。
そして二代秀忠の時の江戸城大改造のおり、城内紅葉山より新たに社地を江戸城外に定め、社殿を新築して遷祀されたそうです。
結局創建はいつやねん！と言う話ですが、この頃ではないでしょうかね。
主祭神となってる大山咋神（おおやまいくいのかみ）はその名の通り山に杭をうつ神、つまりは山の所有者であり山の地主神です。古事記によれば、近江国の日枝山と葛野（かづの、葛野郡、現京都市）の松尾に鎮座し、鳴鏑を神体とすると記されている。ちなみに、ここに出てくる日枝山とは後の有名な比叡山のことでもあるそうで、日枝神社との関連が見えてきますよね。
他にも相殿に国常立神（くにのとこたちのかみ）、伊弉冉神（いざなみのかみ）、足仲彦尊（たらしなかつひこのみこと）を祀っています。
また日枝神社の境内には狛犬ではなく「猿」がいます。 山の守り神とも呼ばれる猿は、「さる」という読みから、「まさる」→魔が去る（まがさる）とも考えられ、勝運や魔除けの神として置かれているそうです。音読みの「えん」という読みから猿が「縁」を運んできてくれるとも言われているそうです。
明暦3年（1657）の大火、明暦の大火と呼ばれる江戸の大半を焼いた大火災ですね。これにより、より社殿を焼失したたため、1659年、時の将軍家綱が赤坂にある松平忠房の邸地を社地にあてて現在地に遷座したそうです。
創建の正確な年代がわからないのは、この火災で様々な資料が焼失したためではないかと、調べていくうちに感じました。
また、1945年の東京大空襲で社殿が焼失し、1958年に再建されました。
そして今なおこの山王さんへの信仰は途絶えることなく続いております。
