Writing a reflective assignment can be a struggle. Knowing exactly what to write, and seeing examples of what this looks like, will help you become a first class reflective writer.
I know you’re anxious about your reflective writing assignment. Most students are, you’re not alone! For most of our academic lives, we’ve been told NOT To be reflective, not to share our opinions, views or feelings in our written work, because that’s not very ‘academic’. We’ve been taught that being academic is about being detached and objective rather than emotive and reflective!
However, reflective writing is becoming increasingly common in universities, with many degree programs incorporating reflective elements into their coursework. Over the past decade, I've seen a rise in reflective assignments where students are asked to contemplate their experiences and write about their personal growth and development. Whether you're a researcher working on a dissertation or a team member in a group project, reflective writing can help you make sense of your experiences and learn from them.
