Playwright John Patrick Shanley's DOUBT: A PARABLE returns to Broadway after 20 years with stars Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber. This video is of 1st Preview curtain call and pre-curtain remarks by Director Scott Ellis. Note: the 1st preview was scheduled for February 2, 2024 however was postponed one day to February 3rd due to Tyne Daly's illness. Broadway veteran Isabel Keating , as understudy to Tyne Daly, performed in the role of Sister Aloysius Beauvier at the Feb 3rd 1st preview with little/no prep; an incredible backstory relayed to the audience by Director Ellis in his pre-curtain speech (also wished Tyne Daly well and a speedy recovery). The cast also includes Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Zoe Kazan. 95 minutes, no intermission.

"We are thrilled to welcome Academy Award and two-time Tony nominee Amy Ryan to the company of DOUBT: A PARABLE, who begins performances next Tuesday, February 13. Until then, Tony nominee Isabel Keating will play the part of Sister Aloysius.
Tyne Daly was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and unfortunately needs to withdraw from the production while she receives medical care; she is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.
"With respect and admiration for Tyne, we wish her the best and a quick recovery. We are grateful that Amy Ryan said yes – in a quick minute – to join our company and take on the role of ‘Sister Aloysius.’
We deeply appreciate Isabel Keating, who remarkably stepped in with a day of rehearsal and allowed us to get the production up on its feet during this first week of performances,” says director Scott Ellis.
