【鏡開き】(Kagamibiraki)
「鏡開き」とはお正月の間に飾っていた鏡餅を神棚や床の間から下げ無病息災を祈願して食べる行事のことです。
鏡餅や鏡開きの「鏡」は平和・円満の意味があり「開き」は末広がりを意味します。
「鏡開き」で使用したお餅は、お雑煮・おしることいったお餅料理で食べることが一般的です。

Kagamibiraki
Kagamibiraki is a ceremony in which the Kagamimochi which is displayed during New Year's is taken down from the alcove or alcove of a Shinto altar and eaten to pray for good health and good fortune.
The "Kagami" in Kagamimochi and Kagamibiraki means peace and happiness, and the "Biraki" means to widen the prosperity for the new year.
The rice cake used for Kagamibiraki is usually eaten with rice cake dishes such as Ozoni (Japanese New Year Mochi Soup ) and Oshiruko (Sweet Red-bean soup).
