香味辣味十足的馬來西亞印度餐: Spice Grill (柔佛新山)
My name is Andy and I am a Malaysian Chinese. I was born, grew up and studied in Malaysia and spent my entire 44 years in Malaysia, except for about 11 years that I was away for study in England and work in Hong Kong and Singapore. I have also been to South Korea, Taiwan and China for 50 times over the past 4 years for work and I really enjoy and appreciate the different cultures and food in different parts of the world.
Malaysia has three main ethnic groups: Malays, Chinese and Indians. Indians account for 2.2 million (7%) of the country’s population of 32 million, and we can easily see Indian restaurants or stalls in every corner of Malaysia. Indian curry is also deeply loved by the Malays and Chinese and it has become an indispensable cuisine in the daily life of Malaysians.
Spice Grill @ Puteri Harbour in Johor Bahru serves authentic Indian cuisine at fine-dining level and it is frequented by Malaysians and foreigners in Johor Bahru. It is my favourite restaurant too. During the three years of studying in the UK, I always saved my pocket money so that I could afford to go to Indian restaurant near my university to enjoy the Indian-style dinner, especially in the cold minus 15-degree winter in the UK, the spicy Indian food could warm up my stomach, and it also made me miss my home in Malaysia very much.
If you like heavy-flavour Indian curry, you can give it a try when you are in Johor Bahru!

阿亮是土生土長的馬來西亞人，今年44嵗，是第三代住在馬來西亞的華人，在我以前就讀的馬來西亞華文小學和華文中學，大約有6成的馬來西亞老師都是畢業於台灣的大學，加上有張信哲，周華健，張雨生和張惠妹等歌手的歌曲陪我長大，所以我對中文的掌握能力還算是不錯的。同時小時候我也經常收看香港的電視劇和聼張學友，劉德華和張國榮等歌手的歌，所以對廣東話也略知一二
馬來西亞主要是由馬來人，華人和印度人三大民族組成，其中印度人占了3200萬全國人口的220萬(7%)，所以我們可以在馬來西亞大街小巷看到許多印度人開的餐館或檔口，我們俗稱 mamak店或mamak檔。印度咖喱也成爲了馬來西亞人日常生活裏不可缺的美食
這間位於新山公主港的Spice Grill，主要是販售高端印度料理，是馬來西亞人和外國人在新山都會經常關顧的餐廳。阿亮在英國念書的三年期間，總是在平時省下零用錢，存起來去大學附近的印度餐館享用印度風味的晚餐，尤其是在英國寒冷的負15度的冬天裏，辛辣的印度食物可以暖着胃，很舒服，很感動，也讓我非常想念馬來西亞的家
