Excerpts from an interview with Monggay an Indian single mother whose husband died, leaving her to provide for their four young children. She tells her story of hunting and scavaging for food every day in the jungle. Many days she and her children go hungry if they are not successful finding food, especially because of the limitations of Covid. She relates here how grateful she is to the Sevachild volunteers who delivered a large sack of food supplies to feed her and her children for a month as part of their food rations drive.

T: how are you?
M- Not very well
T: Do you have a husband?
M: No!
T: What happened to your Husband?
M: He died many years back of disease
T: How many children you have?
M: These are my four children
T: May I know how you get your daily food
M: It is very difficult to get food,
we go to the forest and bring wild Bulbs,
tubers, red ants, soft bamboos,
and pigs which we cook and eat.
T: Is this food sufficient for your family?
M: Many days we don't get food
and my children go to sleep hungry.
T: Do you have other sources of food?
M: No we don't !
and if we go to the forest and hunt
we may not find enough food!
T: what would you like to say to all the SevaChild Donors
and American people who gave you all these groceries?
M: We never even imagined that we would eat like this.
American people gave us all these groceries like, rice, oil, and different pulses,
and many things that will be very helpful for all of us.
With these groceries happiness has come into our life.
May God may bless them more and more!
