Muzak Airline Tape 1 Side A
Muzak tape played on United Airlines (Fly The Friendly Skies Of United).
7 inch reels fit conveniently on a plane recorded 2 track mono at 3 3/4 IPS.
Classic music tunes with some selections relating to travel and places.
Muzak custom recorded, Sound Hound could not identify most selections.
About 45 minutes a side. 1960s UAL4148 36 UAL

Muzak Airline Tape Labeling System:
1. UAL-413B or SPS5460 Unique Program Number
2. 32, 28, 57, 132 or 136 Copy Number of the Program
3. UAL, Delta or Southern Airline ID (UAL for United)
The same unique Program Number could be on many Planes in the fleet.
The Airline could have rotated different Programs on the same route so that frequent flyers won't have to listen to the same program too frequently.
It is not clear how often or who (airline or Muzak) would rotate the tapes, if at all.

Background music was distributed to stores, businesses and elevators sometimes by s hidden signal on an FM station for which you needed a special receiver. In the 1970s, I had a summer job in a midtown Manhattan office that played Muzak to hopefully get more work out of the employees.

A store or elevator would have continuous music. An office might just have a 15 minute segment just before a break or lunch.
