Jiangxi is located to the south of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Covering a total area of 166, 900 square kilometers, Jiangxi has a population of 46 million. There are, under its jurisdiction, 11 prefecture-level cities which encompass 100 counties, including county-level cities and districts. It is reputed as a place endowed with abundant resources and producing outstanding people.

Jiangxi enjoys an advantageous geographic location and a convenient transportation network. Adjacent to the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the triangular area of the southeast of Fujian Province, Jiangxi is thus given a geographic advantage of connecting the east with the west, and linking the north with the south, which facilitates it as one of the provinces featuring dynamic innovation-driven economies in China. The province boasts convenient water, land and air transportation. The expressways have been open to traffic covering all the main channels out of the province, with the operating mileage ranking the third in the country; The two-way China-Europe freight trains have achieved stable operation, with a total number of more than 1000. Up to date, Jiangxi has seven airports, namely, Nanchang airport, Jiujiang airport, Jingdezhen airport, Ganzhou airport, Jinggangshan airport, Yichun airport and Shangrao airport. Among them, the Nanchang International Air Cargo Hub is globally accessible and has become the second most popular place for European Freight Inquiries.

Jiangxi has a long history and a splendid culture. The province is the cradle of the Chinese revolution, the People’s Liberation Army and the People’s Republic of China, as well as the birthplace of the Chinese Workers’ Movement. Meanwhile, as the place of origin of rice cultivation in the world, Jiangxi is an important area in which Chinese Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism have proliferated. The province is also proud of embracing the thousand-year-old porcelain capital Jingdezhen, the thousand-year-old Tengwang Pavilion, the thousand-year-old White Deer Cave Academy, and the thousand-year-old ancient Donglin Temple. So many “thousand-year-olds” have contributed to its profound humanistic civilization. Of the eight most famous scholars in the Tang and Song Dynasties, three of them, namely, Ouyang Xiu, Zeng Gong and Wang Anshi were born in Jiangxi. It is also the hometown of the famous pastoral poet Tao Yuanming, the “Oriental Shakespeare” Tang Xianzu, as well as Zhan Tianyou, the “father of China’s railway”, etc.

Jiangxi boasts abundant resources and charming ecological environment. With its 63.1% forests coverage of the entire province, it is reputed as one of the greenest provinces in China. The Yangtze River, the third longest river in the world, flows through Jiangxi and nourishes the “land of fish and rice”. Poyang Lake in Jiangxi is the largest fresh water lake in China and an important piece of wetland of international significance, where 98% of the world’s white cranes live through the winter. The province takes pride in its 50 national-level forest parks, five World Heritage Sites and four World Geological Parks. President Xi Jinping praises three famous mountains within Jiangxi province, namely, Mount. Lu famous for its tranquility, Mount. Sanqing famous for its beauty, and Mount. Longhu for its uniqueness. Jiangxi is rich in abundant mineral resources in terms of reserves and varieties. Among them, the copper reserve ranks the first in China. The province is thus reputed as the “Copper Capital of China”, the“Tungsten Capital of the World”, the “Kingdom of Rare Earths”, and the “Hometown of Nonferrous Metals”.
