Structure of the ION - How to Find the Number of Subatomic Particles, Charge, or the Nuclear Symbol

In this chemistry tutorial video, I start with the difference between atoms and ions (atom - implies that it's neutral, whereas an ion has gained or lost electrons and now has a charge). I show you how to determine the number of subatomic particles (protons, neutrons, and electrons) if given the ion symbol and how to write the nuclear symbol if given the number of subatomic particles. I also discuss the difference between metals and nonmetals and how to predict the charge that main group elements will have as an ion. There are practice examples worked in that you can pause the video and try, and then turn back on the video to check your work.
