Our speakers, representing two local, community organizations, will share how chronic mental illness can be significantly impacted through psychosocial recovery practices and robust resources. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), St. Louis's Jessie Brown will ensure providers receive the latest updates on accessing valuable resources supportive of their clients and families. Jennifer Higginbotham will showcase the Independence Center's evidence-based clubhouse model of integrated mental health care and the impact on psychosocial rehabilitation. Hear first-hand narratives from those not just surviving but thriving with mental illness.

Jessie Brown, MA, Director of Programs, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), St. Louis
Jessie Brown oversees support groups, educational classes, and community presentations in her role as director of programs at NAMI. Prior to working at NAMI St. Louis, she worked 7.5 years in crisis intervention and suicide prevention. She is passionate about raising awareness for mental health and helping others who live with mental health conditions.

Jennifer Higginbotham, LCSW, MSW, Chief Program Officer, Independence Center
Jennifer Higginbotham was first introduced to Independence Center as a Brown School practicum student. She was instantly passionate about the Clubhouse Model approach of psychosocial rehabilitation. Jennifer is on the faculty for Clubhouse Development as well as the Advisory Council for Clubhouse International. She has been instrumental in mentoring the other Clubhouses in Missouri and initiated the first Clubhouse Coalition in the state. Jennifer has received the Mortimer Goodman Mental Health Professional award from NAMI St. Louis.
