Game 1 Pitching rematch with Mike Cuellar for Baltimore and Tom Seaver for New York as the Mets continue their winning way and take the early lead on a Donn Clendenon solo HR in the 2nd inning as Tom Seaver keeps the Orioles scoreless through 8 innings as Baltimore ties the game in the 9th on a sac fly RBI from Brooks Robinson to send the game into extra innings as both Mike Cueller and Tom Seaver pitch great game as Cueller goes 7 innings giving up the 1 one on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts and 0 walks while Seaver pitches a complete 10 inning game giving up the 1 run in the ninth on 6 Orioles hits while striking out 7 and walking 2
Mets end it in the 10 Inning scoring on a pinch hit JC Martin bunt and throwing error by Orioles reliever Pete Richert hitting Martin as pinch runner Rod Gaspar comes in to score the winning run as the Mets take the 3-1 game lead heading into game five.
