初代長光は、備前伝の1流派「長船派」の開祖「光忠」の子で、1代のみとする説、もしくは、2～3代続いたとする説もあります。
国宝の「大般若長光」は初代長光による作刀として大変有名です。
本作長光は、鎌倉時代後期の光忠の子ではなく、後代もしくは同名異人となる室町時代後期の長光となります。
The 1st gen Nagamitsu was the son of Mitsutada, the founder of the Osafune school, one of the 1st-rate schools of the Bizen tradition, and there are theories that he was either the only generation or that the lineage continued for two to three generations.
The national treasure "Daihannya Nagamitsu" is very famous as a sword forged by the 1st gen Nagamitsu.
This work, Nagamitsu, is not from the late Kamakura period, as with Mitsutada's son, but rather from the late Muromachi period, as a descendant or an individual with the same name.
