Microcenter Offering Just $700 US "Trade-In" Value For $2000 US GeForce RTX 4090 GPU 1

Microcenter's Trade-In system seems to be lowballing users by offering lower value for their GPUs such as the GeForce RTX 4090 with one of our readers receiving less than half the value of the said graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs Cost $2000 US Brand New & Around $1500 Through Resellers But Microcenter Offers An "Estimated" Value of Just $700 US

One of our readers posted a picture of Microcenter's Trade-In Value lookup which is much lower than the actual cost of the GPU. Retailers such as Newegg, Amazon & Microcenter offer Trade-In systems allowing users to sell their older or recently bought GPUs to gain a good sum of money. These trade-in values are often lower than what you'd usually get off by selling them in the resale marketplaces but they offer an easy and fast approach.

One of our readers looked up the trade-in value of the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming Trio GPU which has a retail price of $1939.99 US at Microcenter however a quick evaluation gave him a trade-in value estimated at $699.95 US. That's 36% of the total cost of the GPU itself which is less than half. Now there are other factors to be considered such as the quality of the GPU itself and how long the card was used.

The RTX 4090 GPU was launched more than a year ago but it is still a very high-end graphics card that has not only retained its pricing but gotten more expensive in the current year due to the booming AI craze. It is still the fastest consumer & gaming graphics card around. Microcenter further allows users to schedule a trade-in consultation through which they might get a better value but still, $700 is pretty low for a 4090.

If we make a quick comparison with Newegg's trade-in values, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 has an estimated value of $1500 US which is about twice as much offered by Microcenter. Once again, this is just an estimation and the actual value can end up higher or lower depending on the actual condition of the GPU. Microcenter does offer users consultancy to users who want to trade-in their components at their stores which can be found across the US.

So what I want to say is that users who are trading in their tech components should consult with people who have expertise in hardware or use hundreds of tech forums to check if the value they are getting for their products is reasonable or not.
