About this item

  • HyperLock leg locks - Each tripod and monopod uses our new HyperLock leg lock design, which is much faster than traditional tripods and monopods that have 9 to 15 leg locks.
  • Selfie Stick/Telescoping center column - You can take selfies with the included Bluetooth remote and smartphone adapter. When used as a center column it telescopes for additional height when needed.
  • Lightweight - Way less to carry around. MeFOTO Air combines strong and lightweight materials making it possible to create a 2 lb. tripod and a 0.9 lb. monopod.
  • Compact size - Fits inside small and medium sized bags. This is due to the unique HyperLock leg system where each leg section is nested into one group.
  • Rigidity - Don’t be fooled by the size and lightweight design. MeFOTO Air is as sturdy as they come. The HyperLock leg lock design is actually superior to some traditional tripod leg locks.

    Product Description

The MeFOTO BackPacker Air is our most lightweight and compact tripod yet. Ideal for smartphones, compact cameras, action cameras and small mirrorless cameras. BackPacker Air fits inside small and medium sized bags due to the unique HyperLock leg system where each leg section is nested into one group. Each tripod is available in 7 anodized aluminum finishes: Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Titanium. Operating the tripod is now faster as well because there is only 1 leg lock per leg instead of multiple locks per leg. A simple half turn unlocks the leg and it can be stopped at any position. The telescoping center column converts to a selfie stick simply by removing the weight hook. Each tripod includes a spring-loaded smartphone adapter and a rechargeable Bluetooth remote with a clamp that attaches to the handle. Tripod bag with carrying strap included. A matching camera plate in the same anodized aluminum finish as the tripod is also included. The single action ball head features an anodized aluminum housing and can support up to 8.8 lb. payloads. A matching anodized aluminum Arca-Swiss style camera plate with a 3-in-1 screw is included. What can you do with a tripod? A tripod is more than just a tool that keeps your camera steady. When you combine a tripod with your camera or smartphone you open up a world of creative possibilities. Neat, light weight design. Quality build and fast setup as advertised. I an concerned about the center column collapsing when using this fully extended. It is operated by twisting the column, which I would also naturally do as I get the camera positioned for the correct angle. A lack of a separate pano control (unlike the larger models) makes this almost unavoidable. I just don't think I want $2000 of camera equipment intrusted to this little guy. I have the old style Globetrotter Carbon MeFoto as my "main" tripod and am very happy with it.

So very disappointed with this tripod!!! Bought this for my wife a year ago and she just uses it for her compact camera and even with that it can't keep it stable. Photographing waterfalls yesterday and it was terrible. It wasn't locking. So cheap. I own the mefoto backpacker and love it so for a company that makes good quality they definitely failed with this one and should remove these from sale.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bien, pero no para DSLR
Reviewed in Spain on October 10, 2017

The size at which this tripod closes is impressive, however I wish I'd taken warning of the reviews for the legs not staying put. If you want small and lights, this is a good one, also it can become a selfie stick to boot.
