The Bodega-Museum of Bodegas Valdelana won the second time the “Best of” at the Wine tourism in the category of “Art and Culture” in 2012.

The winemaker Juan Jesus Valdelana tastes Spanish young red wine from Rioja Alavesa made.

Impressive, deep cardinal- red. Fragant aromas of pure fruit; powerful and attractive. Meaty in the mouth with a good concentration of flavours. Long finish.

BODEGAS VALDELANA, HISTORY & TRADITION
Sometime during the 13th century, the Ibárrola family decided to leave the Valley of Lana, a Navarrese valley bordering Álava whose inhabitants grew cereals in the fields and made and sold charcoal.
After they left the valley, they decided to adopt the name of their birthplace as a surname: VAL DE LANA. They crossed over the Sierra de Codes and part of the Cantabrian mountain range before settling in the village of Elciego where they initiated a great grape growing and winemaking enterprise.
In 1950, the grandfather, Pedro, made great efforts to extend its Bodega. Subsequently, the father, Isidoro proudly recalls his beginnings in the commercialization, until 1974 when the first Valdelana bottle is launched.
Currently the owner of the Bodega is Juan Jesús Valdelana who begins in the world of wine in 1980 buying his first vineyards in Elciego, thereby extending the familiar company.
In 1991, Juan Jesús was selected, together with other 14 grape growers, and he received his training in viticulture, enology and marketing, getting his Winemaker Certificate. Juan Jesús make improvements in the building and he pursues new goals with the help of the age-old wisdom of his family.
