本作はゴジラシリーズ37作目（アニメ・ハリウッド含む）、
国産実写版ゴジラとしては『シン・ゴジラ』以来7年ぶりとなる30作目にあたり、ゴジラ生誕70周年記念作品と位置付けられ制作されました。
監督は『ALWAYS 三丁目の夕日』シリーズや『永遠の0』で有名な山崎貴！
日本のVFXの第一人者である山崎氏が満を持してゴジラ作品に挑んだ超大作です。
