This episode completely destroyed me.
The latest episode of Squid Game dropped another unexpected twist but this time with a much more sad & tragic outcome which totally devastated me. I'm someone who cries & gets choked up emotionally very easily so suffice to say the waterworks began very early for me. I'm aware of the show's reputation for unexpected surprises but this one I truly did not see coming.
Despite breaking my heart in several places I am utterly impressed by the writing of this episode & how effective the build-up was towards that gut-wrenching final 10 mins. All the character-building work in the earlier episodes was completely paid off by the end. Lastly the acting in this episode was also absolutely phenomenal. In true Korean cinema fashion, the actors wrung every spectrum of emotion out of their performances - from grief, anger, confusion to desperate, pathetic, manipulative & self-serving.
