These errors are displayed when the header of the photo can not be read. So it means *at least* that the header is corrupt. I made some videos what showed how you can repair that using a reference file. A common comment under these videos is: I followed the steps in the video but I get a 'no SOS detected' message. This means that apart from header corruption at least part f the actual image data is also corrupt.
This video tries to answer all types of corruption that result in one of the above Windows Photo Viewer messages: Corrupt JPEG header, Corrupt JPEG header + extended damage + corrupt RAW photo header.
It also tries to explain when and why you can NOT repair a photo.
It is divided into 3 parts:
Part 1: Corrupt JPEG header - actual repair @ 08:10
Part 2: Corrupt JPEG header and partially corrupt image data - 10:10 - actual repair @ 16:18
Part 3: Corrupt RAW photo header (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG etc.) - 27:40 - actual repair @ 33:33
