A Tutorial on How to Create, Resize, or Extend a Linux Swap File using Ubuntu. This applies to newer versions of Ubuntu where you don't have a Linux swap partition and can extend or resize your Linux Swap by creating a new swap file. We'll go through the process using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, but it applies to most Linux Distributions. Follow along and Create/Resize/Extend your Swap File through terminal command line today.

The swap file helps unused memory get swapped out to the disk from physical memory. This allows for more memory resources with quick access times to be available for your system. Swap files also help with setting up hibernation on your Linux system. Swap files can be great and all they do is take up some disk space on your storage device. Swap files in Linux are easy to maintain, create, extend, and resize.
