Congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix! He 100% deserved the Oscar. His performance as Arthur Fleck/Joker in Todd Phillips' acclaimed Joker was sublime. The film itself garnered eleven Oscar nominations. Joker was the most nominated 2019 film at the 92nd annual Academy Awards. The ceremony was held February 9th 2020. Some of Joker's nominations included Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. The film ended up earning two golden statues for Best Original Score (Hildur Guðnadóttir) and also Best Actor for Joaquin. This was Joaquin's fourth Oscar nomination and first win. Personally I believe it was long overdue and as a longtime fan I am so proud. Joaquin is one of the best actors of his, or any generation. I discovered Joaquin in the year 2000 at the age of 7. That year Joaquin starred alongside Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott's Gladiator, as the evil Emperor Commodus. Then five years later I became a huge fan of his, after I witnessed his extraordinary performance as Johnny Cash in Walk the Line. Walk the Line is one of my favorite films ever (Joker is now too)!

His Oscar acceptance speech was so moving, inspiring and also pretty emotional. It made me cry. Some have criticized Joaquin's speech but most I've seen have praised it. Those who criticize are the ones that are "out of touch" if you ask me. Also it appears they missed one of the main themes from Joker... EMPATHY! Joaquin earned that Oscar and earned that time on that stage to use his voice in whichever way he wanted to. I'm so grateful he used his voice to "give voice to the voiceless'. We fans know Joaquin has severe anxiety and really lacks the ability to filter his many thoughts, so we know how difficult it must have been for him. He was amazing nonetheless. So brilliant that his speech tended at #1 for a day and "broke the internet". He is an inspiration to many of us. I was moved to tears when he emotionally mentioned & quoted his big brother River at the end. "Run to the rescue with love and peace will follow." River was a special human and a beautiful soul. Joaquin if you ever see this (which is unlikely) just know you are not a "scoundrel" and also your big brother loves you and is so proud of you wherever he is. We fans also love you and are proud. I can confidently say you will most likely win at least one more of these. Congrats Joaquin!
