What is B O A T Looting? | Java Minecraft 1.17 - 1.20.1

Boat looting is a method of killing mobs in 2 dimensional farms such that they do not count to the mobcap and therefore allow more mobs to spawn in your farm. You use it in conjunction with portal elevators to bring the mobs to you. The effect may not be noticeable in farms that don’t hit mobcap but for the farms that do and just have playerless killing, it can boost the rates by 2.5x thanks to the looting benefit. Collection and sorting for the system is up to you but is quite easy due to it just being a 2x4 area to collect items.
EDIT: For more reliable item collection, replace the powder snow that is in line with the obsidian sides of the portal with any full block which you can push in with pistons.
"The boats are not all that laggy, less than 1ms in my experience. Boat looting farms can be laggy, but the lag primarily comes from all the mobs in the portal elevator, since you need to give them 15 seconds for portal cooldown. In a very fast farm that can be several hundred, so designing an elevator that minimizes collisions and pathfinding is important. If you prefer to sacrifice single player operation for lag efficiency, that is a choice you can make." - sanedragon
