Maison Margiela showed it's first Artisanal collection in 4 years on the last day of the Haute Couture schedule, and it was a fashion show that truly gave us something to chew on. While the clothing was miraculous, everything from Pat McGrath's glossy doll like makeup, to the movement direction of the model's by Pat Boguslawksi, the music of singer Adele, the frizzy discs of hair by Duffy, the recreation of the Tabi shoe with Christian Louboutin, and leather treated to look like porcelain by craftsman Robert Mercier showed how important multiple layers of storytelling can create a last memory of a fashion show and a brand. So in this video we explore not only this collection, and how John Galliano's designs incorporated his own lexicon, but the work of both Martin Margiela and Madeline Vionnet, but how "the ritual of dressing" can have so many meanings and experiences attached to it.
