The Cult - IF
The song IF from the 1991 Ceremony album. A lot of ppl think it was rushed, and it gets a lot of flack. I don't think it deserves that. Yes, it was rushed, and Billy and Ian lost drummer Matt Sorum and bassist Jamie Stewart. Aside from personal issues, this wasn't an easy task. HOWEVER I believe they had a little over 20 songs when they were recording Sonic Temple. So really, Half the work was already done. Wouldn't it be boring if all records sounded the same? Ppl grow, ppl evolve, ppl go through changes. It's human nature. Stop being so critical of hard working artists. It's art. Art is relative.
Billy and Ian have been making music for over 40 yrs, they are legends. And they are also well respected by their peers. Personally I haven't seen one bad thing said about them, by anyone.. You either love them or hate them. I don't think there can be an in between... We aren't just fans. We're insane. (kidding) I saw an interview with Ian from back in the LOVE Days. He said, he believes Cult fans will love The Cult until they die. He nailed it. In my book, they are musical geniuses. Soooo stoked that they are still at it, over 40 yrs later, in their 60's. Their music got me through some dark and scary times. Simply b/c it's uplifting. the 1st 5 albums, are very uplifting. Makes you forget all the crap for a while. I live to breathe another day in part to that.
