岡本の場合は変声後も強靭なﾄﾞﾗﾏﾃｨｯｸ･ｿﾌﾟﾗﾉの音域が自然に維持され続けている世界的にも大変希有な「天性の男性ソプラノ歌手」である。
国立音楽大学を卒業後、フランスのプーランク音楽院を首席で修了。心の深淵に温かく響く唯一無二の歌声は「奇跡の歌声」と称され、個性的なキャラクターとコスチュームも併せてクラシック界にとどまらず各方面からの呼び声も高い。
そのレパートリーは幅広く、宗教曲、オペラ、クロスオーバー、日本の唱歌やポップスと多岐にわたり、2006年より担当し続けているフジテレビ フィギュアスケート中継テーマ曲「ボレロ」ではまさにその真骨頂を聴くことが出来る。 また、大学時代よりライフワークとして取り組んでいる全国各地の学校訪問コンサートは年間数十公演に及び、子供達とのふれあい活動にも尽力している。
近年では、上皇上皇后両陛下の御前で演奏した『全国豊かな海づくり大会』への参加や、デーモン閣下との異色の共演『悪魔の森の音楽会』が高評を博しているほか、『世界フィギュアスケート選手権』や『FIA 世界耐久選手権 富士6時間耐久レース』といったスポーツの国際大会、『読売巨人軍開幕戦』や『日本ダービー』等でも国歌独唱を務めている。
