In this episode of Ethan's underground sessions, I'm heading back to Japan (well, not literally, though I wish)! Since I received so much wonderful feedback on my last Japanese-language cover, Suga Shikao's 'Yuudachi', I decided to follow up with another great J-Pop tune from a popular anime. This time it's Akino Arai's 'Kirei na Kanjou' (usually translated as 'Pure Emotions') from the series Noir.
This song's beautiful simplicity belies the fact that it actually has a pretty complicated chord progression. I've always loved the melody, and I was surprised to find that I could sing it comfortably in the original key (though, obviously, in a lower register than Akino Arai)! I hope you enjoy listening, I had a lot of fun making the video.
