DIR EN GREY 『DOZING GREEN (Acoustic Ver.)』を歌ってみた Cover
Releasing this to commemorate DIR EN GREY's 2024 European tour (which I will be at!) Uroboros is one of my favorite albums of theirs, and it's a masterpiece of an album. To be honest, I used to be pretty indifferent about DOZING GREEN until the acoustic version came out on the TWOM single. That version blew my mind and became my top streamed song in both 2022 and 2023 on Spotify lol. To date it's my favorite acoustic arrangement of any of their songs.
I went to Japan in May of 2023 to see their PHALARIS Part 2 tour at Zepp Haneda, and when they sat down in their first encore song, I knew they were about to let us have it. I was in the VIP pit GOONINNGGGGGGG MAMAAAA. I'm actually in the live taping of that show, I wonder if you can spot me in the pit because the man was too stunned to speak. That was probably the moment that sealed the deal for this song, and I had to take it back to the studio lol. This was truly a song that took a really long time to complete, from preproduction to tracking, to recording all the necessary parts. I partnered up with @davidguthriemusic on this track, he's on acoustic guitar and did the instrumental mix as well and I couldn't be more ecstatic with how the song turned out. He did an absolutely wonderful job--I'm very thankful for his help in the progress and making this dream track come true! Please give his channel a follow and support his work as well 🫶🏻
The song was actually super difficult to sing--it starts deceivingly low and ends very high (and for some reason I decided to toss an adlib in there that was an octave higher lol), I wonder how Kyo does it so smoothly and masterfully other than obviously being the GOAT.
Anyway this is my 9TH DIR EN GREY song I've covered. That's enough to make an album. Mental illness 💀

And as of my activities, I'll try to be updating more, and doing some short-form content. There are a ton of songs in the world I wanna cover, but sometimes I don't have the commitment to do the entire song, and produce it at a CD-ready level lol.
