When I restored the old rusty hammer head, I had to soft anneal, Sandblasting, grind, file, harden, hand sand and polish the metal. The hammer handle I made new, for this I used ash. For good measure, I filled the eye of the hammer with resin, which added a lot to the look. Please also note that this video is not only to quickly show someone how something works, but also to relax and unwind from everyday life!

▶ What did I do ?! ◀

The old, rusty hammer head was already heavily rusted, which could be seen from the pitting. To remove the rust, I decided to use the process of electrolysis. Soft annealing allowed me to work the hammer head better because the surface was no longer so hard. To do this, I heated it to 700 °C and let it cool slowly. In the next step, I ground, sandblasted, polished and painted the hammer head. It was also hardened again at 900°C and tempered three times at 200°C. The hammer handle was made on the lathe, rubbed with linseed oil varnish and the hammer eye was filled with resin. Now the old rusty hammer shines again in its "Forgotten Shine"!
