Most professional or amateur sprayers will use solvent based paints, they weather well are easy to apply and dry quick...they even produce a lovely high gloss sheen finish. So why the sudden need for water based paints?
In the last 20 years technology has moved on and Government regulations have determined that solvent can cause serious health issues to humans due to their toxic nature. This has given rise to the government targeting businesses on their environmental impact or VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) ratings - the lower the rating the better!
This video shows the difference between water based paint spraying and solvent spraying - do you need to apply differently and does it produce a different finish. Plus how water based paints will be the way of the future due to their environmental and health impacts to humans.
