この企画について：
音楽史に輝く録音芸術作品をアレンジや質感まで完全に再現することで、その作品へのリスペクトを表現する「完全再現シリーズ」
here is the process of how we tried to replicate the original 10cc sound as much as possible.
■To make I'm not in love's impressive chorus
1) record singing voices to make the endless voice loops of a chromatic scale.
2) convert 1) to the analog multi-track recorder to get an analog tape sound.
3) launch 2) to the NEVE's mixing console to control loops like an instrument by moving console faders.
■To make the voice loops
・4(or 5) singers sing 10 intervals about 16 times for each interval.
*use not only faders but also On/Off switch of mixing console to control the voice loops.
*once you play with faders, the computer memorizes how we play. then NEVE console moves automatically thereafter (moving fader automation system).
■Drum's kick sound
1) play bass drum with mallet.
2) change 1) to MOOG's kick sound by trigger.
Through those recording processes, what we realized is how amazing their sound production is.
so experimental and so beautiful.
we have great respect for this masterpiece. it's monumental in the art of recording.
オリジナルのサウンドをできる限り再現するための作業を一部紹介します。
特徴的な美しすぎるコーラスは、まず1音程ずつ歌声を録音し、そのループ音源をアナログのマルチトラックレコーダーに録音。それをミキシングコンソールに立ち上げ、フェーダーを上げ下げして楽器のように演奏することで作られています。
コーラスループ素材を作るにあたって、1音につき4、5人で16回ほど歌ってもらい、それを重ねました。
この作業を使用する10音程分おこないます。
フェーダー操作だけでなく、チャンネルのスイッチON/OFFでも演奏します。
フェーダーによる演奏をすると、コンピューターが記憶してくれて、NEVEコンソールがムーヴィング・フェーダーとして動きます。
キックの音はマレットで叩いた物をトリガーでムーグのキックに差し替えました。
まだまだ書きたいことはありますが、こうして再現レコーディングを試みてあらためて思い知らされたことがあります。それは、オリジナル10ccのサウンドプロダクションがいかにすばらしいか、実験的であり美しいものか、ということです。
この録音芸術の金字塔作品に心よりリスペクトを送りたいと思います。
