In my opinion, Wichita Lineman is one of the most beautiful and stunning songs. It was written by Jimmy Webb and popularized by Glen Campbell. This song brings so many memories of my childhood.
Glen Campbell (April 22, 1936 – August 8, 2017) was an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, actor and television host. He is one of the most under-appreciated guitarists and arguably should be considered one of the titans of the instrument.
Later in life, Glen suffered from Alzheimer's disease. With the love and support from his family, he was able to perform well into the late stages of the disease. His farewell tour was chronicled in the movie, "I'll Be Me."
This humble version of the song is an original arrangement by Tom Gilberts.
It is hard to believe we lost him 5 years ago today.
