During a conference in England in August 2017, young people had the opportunity to communicate with the International Space Station (ISS).

YOTA is an incredibly dynamic and rapidly expanding group of young radio amateurs from IARU Region 1. Their unwavering goal is to ignite passion among more young people for amateur radio and lead the charge in propelling the amateur radio community forward. Each summer, they bring together around 80 of the most passionate and driven young enthusiasts from different IARU Region 1 countries for a week of stimulating exchanges of ideas and experiences.
The RSGB proudly hosted YOTA 2017 in August at Gilwell Park. They welcomed 80 young people from 27 different countries, all under the age of 26. These young people represented their national amateur radio societies at the event, coming from all over IARU Region 1 as well as Japan. The video below provides an overview of the week, showcasing the diverse range of amateur radio and intercultural activities the youngsters participated in. Through these activities, they were able to establish relationships with like-minded individuals from other countries, develop international friendships, and have a lot of fun!
