1943 年東京に生まれた山本耀司は、
誰もが知る日本を代表するファッションデザイナー。
父親を戦争で亡くし、洋裁店を営む母親の元、
慶応義塾大学卒業後、文化服装学院で服飾を学び、
第25 回の装苑賞を受賞。
80 年代にパリに進出した際の“黒の衝撃”と呼ばれるコレクションで
一気に世界的デザイナーとなり、反骨精神とエレガンスが同居する
唯一無二のクリエーションで、その後の活躍は誰もが知るところ。
番組は放送がスタートした1985 年より、
パリ、東京、ニューヨークなど数々のショーを記録。
91 年の「6・1 THE MEN」に始まり、96 年の俳優を起用し話題を集めた
メンズコレクション、96 年のニューヨークコレクション、
またオートクチュールシーズンに臨んだ2000 年代など、
その都度密着取材も敢行し、クリエーションの裏側にも迫ってきました。

In 1943, one of japan’s representative fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto was born in Tokyo.
He lost his father in the war and was raised by his mother who operated a tailor's shop.
After graduating university he went to fashion school and won the Soen Award at age 25.
His Paris presentation in the 80s known as the “Black Scandal “ made him a world-renowned designer.
Since then, Yohji Yamamoto has been captivating people with his unique creations where rebelliousness and elegance coexist.
Since Fashion Tsushin first broadcast in 1985,
we have been filming every creation of Yohji Yamamoto in Paris, Tokyo and New York.
Starting with "6.1 the men" in 1991,
the 1996 men's collection, which became a hot topic for using actors as models, the New York Collection in 1996,
Also the collection presented during the haute couture season in the 2000s, and more.
We closely covered those collections and captured the back side of the creations on camera.
