Original NBC Broadcast (raw network broadcast footage) unedited-no break- aways to commercials etc, Recorded and Digitalized off a pre recorded VHS tape ive had since the late 1980s and has been recently remastered/restored and is the most complete version of this game ive seen out there.
Game 1 of the 1971 World Series with Curt Gowdy, Chuck Thompson and includes Joe Garagiola and Sandy Koufax doing the pre game World Series Report . and roaming the stands is Tony Kubek. Starting Pitchers are Dock Ellis for Pittsburgh and Dave McNally for Baltimore.
Dave McNally pitchers and outstanding opener to the Series, pitching a complete game giving up 3 runs on just 3 Pirate hits (2 hits from Roberto Clemente) striking out 9 while walking only 2. Hitting stars for the Orioles, Frank Robinson goes 2 for 4, hitting a solo HR in the 2nd inning off Ellis.
after giving up a 2-run HR to Merv Rettenmund Ellis is replaced by Bob Moose. Ellis gives up 4 runs (all earned) on 4 Oriole hits. Dave McNally with the win (1-0) while Doc Ellis suffers the loss (0-1) in the series opener
