この作品は同名の八代亜紀さんのヒット曲であまりにも有名でした。
ところがこの「愛の終着駅」の方が先に作られていて、しかもA面候補曲
として、出番を待っていたところでした。八代亜紀さんの作品は1977年9月発売。
藤圭子さんの作品は、先にご紹介した『あなたへの未練』と一緒に1976年に収録
されたにも関わらず、陽の目を見ることなく、1977年12月の『面影平野』のLPの
収録曲になってしまいました。
藤圭子さんも大変気に入っていて、ショーの生バンドで歌ってくれました。
しかし、彼女も気になっていたのか、この作品を『北の終着駅』とコメント
していました。どうしても歌いたかった！さぞ悔しい思いだったことでしょう。
不運だったかどうかは、まだまだわからず、2014年にこの作品が入った
LPがSony Musicによってブルーレイを駆使して高品質CDとなって復活を
果たしました。
山田の作品は、変なところから火がついて、大ヒットすることがあります。
ハスキーボイスの横綱同志。年代も同じとあれば、当時は人気を二分していた
ことでしょう。
作品をアップするにあたり、つい口ずさみたくなる歌でした。
あの頃の私たち、そんな匂いを感じ取って頂けると嬉しく思います。
