The plot revolves around the soldiers chasing a toy maker who found a magical book that can bring things to life. In a world where toys fight wars, every doll has a story. Long ago, during war times, a smart man named Benjamin was running away from Japanese soldiers. They were after him because he knew important secrets about their plans. One day, he ran into a house near Jindal to hide. The nice family living there hid Benjamin under their sofa. When the soldiers came and asked if they were hiding someone, the family said no. The soldiers looked around but didn't find Benjamin. After they left, Benjamin came out and told the family he was a scientist who knew scary details about Japan's weapons. He also had a special book that he kept quiet about. Benjamin asked to stay longer, and the family let him. But the soldiers came back! This time, the family hid Benjamin in the daughter's room. The soldiers' leader was smart and said he could tell when people were lying. He didn't find Benjamin then, but he scared the family by saying he knew they were keeping secrets.
As the soldiers were leaving, they heard a noise from the roof. It was Benjamin! He had accidentally knocked something over. The leader found him and shot him. The leader was so mad he hurt Benjamin's kind protectors, but their daughter escaped, even though she was hurt. When one door closes, another opens. So, she ran to a nearby toy shop. The toy maker there helped her. Before she died, she gave him Benjamin's magical book to keep safe from the soldiers. The toy maker was sad and angry. He hid her and went back to his shop, where he treated his handmade dolls like his children. One night, he read Benjamin’s book and found it was full of magic spells that could bring objects to life. He used a spell on a doll named Rupert, and Rupert came to life! The next morning, he told his helper, Abigail, but she thought he was just dreaming. Meanwhile, the leader, still searching for the book, offered a big reward for any information about the girl or the book. Wanting the reward, Abigail told the leader everything, but he didn't pay her; instead, he killed her.
The soldiers then attacked the toy maker's shop and tried to burn it down. But Rupert and other dolls that came to life saved the toy maker and fought off the soldiers. In the end, the toy maker was very hurt, and just as he was dying, the dolls used the magic book to bring him back to life. They all left together, carrying a mysterious suitcase, smiling a bit as they vanished into the night. It is the place where dolls defend and heroes are handmade.
