I recently headed to Downtown Fort William in Thunder Bay, which is on the Southside. Our 'downtowns' in this city are nothing like a larger city, but that doesn't really matter as I enjoy finding scenes no matter where I am. The one drawback, is that there aren't that many people around.

My new Sony 24mm 1.4 is slowly becoming my favourite lens for street photography and pretty much everything else. I used to shoot the 24mm focal length a lot more a few years back when I was using the Fuji system. Since then, I almost always take my 50mm or 85mm for street photography, because I love shooting wide open with those lenses.

The thing I like about the 24mm 1.4, is the fact that you see a lot more of the scene, but you can also blow out the background too, when getting right in close.

It was sunny midday sun, which is my least favourite condition to shoot in, but I challenged myself to get some keepers nonetheless. I find with sunny weather, I work more with shadows than I would with overcast weather.

Anyway, I hope this video inspires some of you to just get out there and photograph your city. Even if it's a small one like mine.
