Nikolas Cruz is facing a possible death sentence for killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018. During Cruz's sentencing, a number of medical examiners were called to describe the injuries on the victims. Dr. Iouri Boiko testified that a couple of the victims that he examined had defensive wounds on their hands, indicating that they tried to put their hands up to protect themselves when they were shot and killed.
